An officer from the Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD), South District, was involved in a shooting in Southwest Miami-Dade.
At approximately 9:40 pm, a MDPD officer observed a white pick-up truck exit a gas station, located at SW 240 Street and 112 Avenue, at a high rate of speed striking a vehicle in the roadway and flee. The officer recognized this vehicle as a possible match of an unmarked MDPD vehicle (equipped with police lights and police dispatch radio) stolen earlier in the week and informed responding officers of the vehicle through police frequency. Other units in the area located the vehicle at SW 108 Avenue and 256 Street and attempted to conduct a traffic stop where a confrontation ensued and shots were fired striking three white males out of the five occupants.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded and transported the injured subjects to Kendall Regional Trauma with non-life threatening injuries. The two white females remained on the scene and were being interviewed by detectives. Charges are pending.
No police officers were injured during the incident.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is conducting the investigation. No further information is available at this time.
