At approximately 8:56 a.m. an armed robbery occurred at a food establishment, located at SW 211 Street and South Dixie Hwy. The subject's information was transmitted on the police frequencies. Officers searching the area observed the subject walking on the canal bank located at SW 206 Street. A confrontation ensued and shots were fired.  Investigators discovered a firearm on the scene and confirmed the subject was the same one involved in the armed robbery.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to the scene and pronounced the male deceased.

No officers were injured during the incident.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is conducting the investigation. No further information is available at this time.
