According to investigators, at approximately 10:30 Saturday morning, Miami Beach police officers responded to 911 calls reporting a bank robbery at the Bank of America branch located at 1414 Alton Road.

Responding officers were given a detailed description of the subject.  Officers searched the area and located a white male matching the description of the bank robber.  The subject ran inside a nearby barbershop and armed himself with a weapon.  He then exited the barbershop and in an ensuing confrontation with the officers, was shot when he raised the weapon. He was pronounced deceased on scene.

A weapon was located on scene.

The shooting is being investigated by the Miami-Dade Police Department in conjunction with the State Attorney's Office and the Office of the Medical Examiner.

The bank robbery investigation is being conducted by the FBI and the city of Miami Beach Police Department.
