Just after 7:21 p.m. Tuesday evening officers were dispatched to the residence located at 10601 S.W. 27 Street after receiving multiple calls of a male shot.

According to investigators, 43 year old Josmel Herrera accidently shot himself once in the chest while conversing and explaining the proper way to clean a firearm on a video call with a family member. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded, performed emergency care, and transported Herrera to Kendall Regional Trauma Center where he later succumbed to his injuries.

There is no further information available at this time.
