Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department repairs sewer main, William Lehman Causeway closed during repairs

MIAMI ( September 13, 2019 )

A Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department (WASD) crew was dispatched to the area near Biscayne Boulevard and the William Lehman Causeway at 11 p.m. Thursday night due to a 24-inch sewer main break. Crews arrived by 11:15 p.m. and had contained and rerouted flows by 1:15 a.m. Customers’ service was never impacted.

As a result of the break, the Causeway was shut down in both directions to accommodate repairs. Crews continue working at the site until the repairs are complete and the roadway is reopened to traffic.

It is not known when the roadway will be reopened but follow the department’s Twitter (@MiamiDadeWater) and Facebook (MiamiDadeWater) pages for roadway opening updates.

It is the priority of the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department to provide safe, reliable service to its customers. For additional information about Department services and programs, visit the WASD website.
