Miami-Dade County wins Government Experience Award

MIAMI ( September 18, 2019 )

Miami-Dade County has won the Overall County Government Experience Award from the Center for Digital Government (CDG) for its miamidade.gov web portal and digital channels, a nationwide honor that recognizes achievements and best practices in delivering resident services online. This comes just four months after the newly-redesigned miamidade.gov earned Miami-Dade County a National Association of Counties (NACo) Achievement Award.

"Just as with May's NACo Achievement Award, the recognition by the Center for Digital Government highlights the incredible efforts undertaken to develop a service-based website focused on the community," Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez said.

CDG's Government Experience Awards acknowledge states, counties and cities using cutting-edge digital technology and innovation that allows residents to easily and efficiently access government services.

"This year's results are evidence that state and local government agencies are continuing to grow the sophistication of their digital experiences," said Dustin Haisler, chief innovation officer for the Center for Digital Government. "The Government Experience Award winners from this year are not just leveraging innovative tools...to amplify their reach, they are also going the extra mile to build a proper foundation to support the future and ensure citizens get the right information at the right time."

Winners of the third annual Government Experience Awards will be honored at an awards ceremony in Denver, Colorado on Sept. 27.

The redesigned miamidade.gov was built with County services at the forefront and designed to be easily accessed by all audiences across desktop and mobile platforms.

"Miami-Dade County will continue to rely on innovation to drive the user experience," Miami-Dade County Communications Director Inson Kim said. "These advancements will further transform our delivery of government services and improve the ways residents can get the information they want."

The Center for Digital Government is a national research and advisory institute focused on technology policy and best practices in state and local government. CDG's Best of the Web Awards have recognized and benchmarked state and local government progress online for the past 20 years. The Government Experience Awards have replaced the Best of the Web Awards.
