Annual "Kite Days" kite festival returns to Haulover Beach Park, February 15-17

MIAMI ( January 28, 2020 )

Whether you’re inspired by the Mary Poppins song “Let’s Go Fly a Kite” or you have a fond kiting memory of your own, you’ll have the good fortune of revisiting the art of kite flying, as you take in the sights of kites of every color, shape, size and theme, during the 28th annual Kite Days kite festival at Haulover Beach Park, Saturday-Monday, February 15-17, 2020, from noon to 5 p.m.

This three-day family-style event, presented by the Miami-Dade Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department and Skyward Kites, returns with an armada of amazing "monster kites," including the 100-foot squid, the 30-foot dragon, the 30-foot scuba man, the 30-foot “Nemo” fish, the 150-foot flying rainbow, among others. There will also be food trucks, music, a bounce house village, games and activities for children of all ages, as well as educational exhibits. Event admission is free and parking is $7.

There is no limit to the size or type of kites at this event. Guests have the option of bringing their favorite kite from home, purchasing a simple kite, a fancy kite, or coloring and personalizing a kite. It is a fantastic way to celebrate the unique diversity of cultures in South Florida, flying kites alongside traditional kites of other countries, sport and competition kites, and more.

Shoes with socks are recommended for individuals participating in open field activities. Those who just want to watch may opt to bring along a blanket, chair, and anything else you need to spend the day.
