Miami-Dade County Community Action and Human Services Department closes all Head Start/Early Head Start locations as a safety precaution, effective March 16, 2020
In an abundance of caution for the more than 7,500 children served, the Miami-Dade County Community Action and Human Services Department (CAHSD) has closed all Head Start/Early Head Start locations for the week of March 16-20, 2020 due to COVID-19 (coronavirus). Spring Break will follow, as planned, during the week of March 23-27, 2020.
Head Start/Early Head Start employees will continue to engage remotely with families to deliver services to the maximum extent possible. During the week of March 16-20, 2020, families will be served in the following ways:
- The Miami-Dade County Community Action and Human Services Department (CAHSD) Head Start/Early Head Start Program has developed developmentally appropriate at-home activities for children and families. These activities are available through the Department’s Facebook and Twitter accounts @305CAHSD and on its website.
- Head Start/Early Head Start family service staff will continue to contact families to assess their individual needs and provide referrals, as needed.
- Based on need, Head Start/Early Head Start programs will continue to provide grab-and-go meals for enrolled children, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
During this time, all Head Start/Early Head Start locations will undergo deep environmental cleaning and disinfecting. For up-to-date information regarding the CAHSD Head Start/Early Head Start program, please call 786-469-4699 or e-mail [email protected].
