Water sample solicitation notices not affiliated with Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department

MIAMI ( June 12, 2020 )

During the on-going COVID-19 State of Emergency, people have been focused on their health, washing their hands, as well as disinfecting their homes and businesses. Miami-Dade’s drinking water has been a large part of aiding in the stopping of the spread of the virus.

However, yellow cards have been arriving at customers’ homes – currently in the Pinecrest area - advertising free water analysis. These cards and the offered free testing are not affiliated with the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department (WASD).

This is not the first time that cards offering tests have been disseminated though the County. The aim of some of these sampling opportunities results with the promotion of installing water filters at homes.

Water filters are not needed to use Miami-Dade’s drinking water.

“I want everyone to know that WASD’s water is excellent and meets all standards,” said WASD Director Kevin Lynskey. “We test the water at our accredited labs more than 150,000 times a year. If you ever have a question about the quality of your drinking water, you should contact our Lab Division staff directly.”

Customers who live north of Southwest Eighth Street should call 786-552-4738. If you live south of Southwest Eighth Streetand, call 786-552-4181.

WASD also issues its Water Quality Report every year. The current report is based on 2019’s information.

It is the priority of the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department to provide safe, reliable service to its customers. For additional information about Department services and programs, visit the department’s website
