Miami-Dade County Community Action and Human Services Department to hold 7th Annual Faith-Based Community Domestic Violence Awareness Event
Join Miami-Dade County Community Action and Human Services Department (CAHSD) on Thursday, October 22, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for a free two-hour educational workshop and community dialogue on domestic violence and the role of faith-based organizations.
In commemoration of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, this community dialogue, led by experts in the field of domestic violence, is geared toward raising awareness and increasing coordination of services for victims in Miami-Dade County. “Faith-based organizations and churches play an important role in combatting domestic violence, and are important to eliminating this form of violence in our community,” said CAHSD Bureau Chief, Ivon Mesa.
Miami-Dade County offers a plethora of preventative and responsive services to victims of domestic violence and their dependents. “Engaging and collaborating with faith-based organizations further strengthens the department’s response by ensuring that information and access to resources are available to victims, regardless of where they initially seek help,” said Annika S. Holder, CAHSD Interim Director.
The event will be held via Zoom and interested participants can register online here or by contacting Sasha Santana at 305-285-5900 or [email protected].
