Miami-Dade County to launch phone option for vaccine appointments

MIAMI ( January 26, 2021 )

Today, Miami-Dade County will release a limited number of COVID-19 vaccine appointments available to people 65 and older, according to state vaccine guidelines. The appointments will be available through a scheduling tool at miamidade.gov/vaccine as well as a new phone line option. Both the online and phone appointments will be available starting at 2 p.m.

As part of Miami-Dade County’s ongoing efforts to distribute the limited supply of vaccines both efficiently and equitably to the community, the County has created a new phone option to make booking appointments more accessible to all seniors 65+.

More information about how to book appointments online and by phone is available here: miamidade.gov/vaccine.

“We are taking urgent action to ensure no communities are left behind and all our seniors 65 and older have equal access to this lifesaving vaccine. To distribute the vaccine equitably to vulnerable Miami-Dade County residents, we are proud to introduce a phone option to expand access to the vaccine to protect our county and move forward together,” said Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava.

"There are many seniors in our community who are not able to access vaccine appointments through online booking, and I'm pleased that the County has launched a new phone line to make it easier for everyone to schedule an appointment. Along with the Mayor, I am continuing to push to bring more vaccines to Miami-Dade, because we urgently need more supply to protect our community," said Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners Chairman Jose “Pepe” Diaz.

This week Miami-Dade County is also opening a new vaccine distribution site at Miami Dade College North Campus for those 65+, and will reopen the vaccination site located at Zoo Miami. All County vaccination sites are by appointment only.

Demand for vaccines is currently much greater than existing supply, and Miami-Dade County is working hard to make vaccines available to the community as fast as new supplies are received. Please continue to check miamidade.gov/vaccine for information about where vaccines are currently available.
