Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava celebrates start of Caribbean Heritage Month

MIAMI ( June 01, 2021 )

Today, Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava celebrated the beginning of Caribbean Heritage Cultural Month 2021 with the following statement:

“The special relationship between Miami-Dade County and the Caribbean has strengthened and shaped both regions tremendously, and it is impossible to talk about who we are as a County without celebrating all the ways our Caribbean community and heritage has contributed to our history and identity.

“Miami-Dade County is a place known for the liveliness, vibrance, and spirit of our culture – and so much of that shared identity comes directly from the Caribbean community. Whether it’s the food we eat, art we enjoy, or music we listen to, the contributions that generations of Caribbean immigrants and descendants have made over the years are all around us.

“I believe that our path out of this pandemic will bring with it even greater opportunity and prosperity, in no small part thanks to the resilience of our Caribbean-American community, which I’ve seen time and time again throughout my 40 years here and in the achievements of so many leaders.

“We stand united behind our Caribbean community and we recognize that Miami-Dade County would not be all that it is today without you.”
