Surfside building collapse update

Today, Miami-Dade County released the following update on the Surfside building collapse response and recovery:

Search and recovery

The teams continue making significant progress searching the building collapse – over 22 million pounds of debris and concrete have now been removed.

As of today, July 14, 97 victims have been recovered, 90 have been identified and 88 next of kin notified.

240 people are accounted for and 8 people are potentially unaccounted for. All 8 of those people have open missing persons reports with the Miami-Dade Police Department.

Family Assistance and Resources

29 families were served yesterday at the Family Assistance Center (FAC); 23 agencies were active at the FAC, and 221 unique families have received services through the FAC in total.

We continue to receive applications for unmet needs through the online portal created to support families, Surfside Assistance.
