Miami-Dade County Community Action and Human Services Department (CAHSD) is offering scholarships to college bound students

Low-income students can apply for CAC College Scholarships now

The Miami-Dade County Community Action and Human Services Department (CAHSD) Community Advisory Committees (CACs) will be accepting applications for educational scholarships starting March 1 through April 1, 2022. Each scholarship award is $2,500. CAHSD has been awarding Scholarships for the past 31 years to assist low-income college students achieve their educational goals. 

To qualify, candidates must be between the ages of 16-25, enrolled in a college or vocational institution or attending a college or vocational institution this fall. Students must have a minimum 2.0 GPA average. Applicants must reside within the boundaries of any of the sixteen target areas represented by a CAC with an annual household income that does not exceed 200% of the Community Service Block Grant (CSBG) Poverty Income Guidelines. The CAC target areas are: Allapattah, Brownsville, Coconut Grove, Culmer, Edison/Little River, Florida City, Goulds, Hialeah, Liberty City, Little Havana, Naranja, Opa-Locka, Perrine, South Beach, South Miami and Wynwood. Other requirements include financial circumstances, community service hours, employment history and submission of an essay. Additional details are available on the website.

Interested individuals can download the application at www.miamidade.gov/socialservices. Completed applications can be submitted at any of the Miami-Dade Community Resource Centers, via “Drop Box” at the entrance of each center, by mail, or email at [email protected].  Applications sent via mail, must be postmarked no later than April 1, 2022.   For additional information about the Scholarship Program, call 786-469-4746.
