Today, Mayor Daniella Levine Cava was joined by the Chairman of the Port of Haifa Eshel Armony, the CEO of Haifa Port Company Mendi Zaltzman, and PortMiami Director of Global Trade & Business Development Eric Olafson in the signing of a renewed Sister Seaport Agreement, fortifying their commitment to collaborate in initiatives to increase cargo and cruise activity between PortMiami and the Port of Haifa.

“What a great day for Miami-Dade County, and our sister seaport, the Port of Haifa,” said Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. “Miami-Dade and Haifa both rely on a healthy shipping industry. As a result of this accord, both ports will collaborate to strengthen the commercial relationship and share best practices. Together, we can create more jobs, more investment and more prosperity for our respective communities.”

“It is always important for us at the Port of Haifa to reinforce the special relationship that we have with our friends from Miami-Dade County and PortMiami,” said Chairman Eshel Armony. “Building on the promising results that we have experienced since 2017, we at Port of Haifa have great expectations for the future of our collaboration.”

In 2017 Miami-Dade County established a non-binding International Sister Seaports Agreement between PortMiami and the Port of Haifa, Israel. Since then PortMiami has seen a significant increase of 136% in trade from Israel, a growth 1,171 TEUs.
