Arthur Holmes, Jr. Assistant Chief of Operations
Chief Arthur L Holmes, joined Miami-Dade Fire Rescue in 1991 and since, he has steadily risen up within the organization and has held every civil service rank including Firefighter, Fire Lieutenant, Fire Captain, and Battalion Chief. Prior to his appointment as Assistant Chief of Operations, he served as the Fire Marshall for Miami-Dade County. Chief Holmes has also held the positions of Division Chief of Training, Division Chief of Operations, and Division Chief of Administration.
As Assistant Chief of Operations, Chief Holmes presently oversees nearly 2000 operational personnel that provide vital fire and emergency services to the residents and visitors of Miami-Dade County. He is dedicated to ensuring the residents and visitors receive quality fire and emergency services.
A strong advocate for continuing education, Chief Holmes holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Organizational Leadership from Saint Thomas University and is currently pursuing his Master’s Degree in Executive Management. Chief Holmes is an adjunct instructor with Miami-Dade College in the Fire Inspector Program. He has membership in a number of fire service organizations, including the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), International Association of Fire Chiefs (IFAC), International Association of Black Professional Firefighters (IABPF), Florida Fire Chiefs Association (FFCA), Florida Fire Training Directors Associations (FFTDA), Florida Fire Marshalls Association and the Florida Officers of Miami-Dade (FOAM-D). Chief Holmes is married and has three children.
