Transit services impacted during Vice-Presidential visit

(MIAMI, Sept. 2, 2015) – Miami-Dade Transit services will be temporarily impacted today, Sept. 2, 2015, and tomorrow, Sept. 3, during a visit from United States Vice President Joe Biden.

For security reasons, several Metrorail and Metromover stations will need to stop service momentarily during the afternoon and evening hours today, and during the afternoon on Thursday, Sept. 3. Metrobus service may also be impacted.

Miami-Dade Transit is asking passengers to be patient and plan accordingly.  Metrorail and Metromover will cease operations intermittently for as long as 25 to 30 minutes.

Metrorail riders who plan to use the Orange Line to go to Miami International Airport are encouraged to give themselves ample time to arrive to their destination on time.

To be notified of transit service disruptions, transit riders can register to receive Rider Alerts by visiting: Miami-Dade Transit Rider Alerts. In the event of a service disruption or delay, transit users will receive a message with details on the device of their choice. Transit users can also follow MDT on Twitter . @IRideMDT

Complete schedules, station maps and other transit information can be found at Miami-Dade Transit’s home page.  This website also can be used to plan a transit trip using the Google Trip Planner.

In addition, transit riders can call 305-891-3131, Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., for transit information.
