Tomorrow is Election Day

Important reminders for Absentee/Election Day voters

(MIAMI, November 3, 2014) – The Miami-Dade County Elections Department is “Election Ready.”  Poll workers have been trained, equipment has been tested, and polling places have been outfitted.  All 812 precincts will be open tomorrow morning at 7:00 a.m. awaiting voters.

More than 290,000 voters have already participated in this election. Over 173,000 have participated via absentee ballot and almost 117,000 through early voting. Voters who have not yet voted should remember the following before heading to the polls tomorrow:

Those voters who requested an Absentee Ballot and have not yet returned it to our office should return it in person no later than 7:00 p.m. to the Elections Department Headquarters (2700 NW 87th Avenue, Miami, Florida 33172) or the Satellite Office at the Stephen P. Clark Center (111 NW 1st Street, Miami, Florida 33128).

What Is New

Miami-Dade County engaged in a targeted reprecincting process, yielding operational efficiencies with minimal voter impact.  Beginning with the August 26, 2014 Primary Election, 6% of Miami-Dade County voters were assigned to a new Election Day voting location, and 25 new polling places were introduced.   All affected voters have been notified and we encourage all voters to confirm their voting location before heading to the polls. Voters may do so by calling  3-1-1 or by visiting our website before heading out to vote.

Also, State law now limits Election Day delivery of an absentee ballot to a voter or a voter's immediate family member unless the voter executes affidavit as to an emergency that precludes the voter from going to their assigned precinct.

For more information, please call 3-1-1 or visit http://www.iamelectionready.org/ or follow us on Twitter @mdcelections.  Voters may track their absentee ballot, view their customized sample ballot, confirm their voting location on Election Day, and much more. Voters may also call 305-499-VOTE (8683). For TTY, call 305-499-8480.
