Miami-Dade Parks Announces Free Salsa Concert by Grammy Nominated Artist Edwin Bonilla at Tropical Park, Feb. 10

3rd Live Show of the Noches Tropicales Concert Series Sponsored by Target

(Miami-Dade County, FL) --
Bring the kids along for a family friendly night of salsa dancing with Grammy-nominated Latin music sensation Edwin Bonilla on Friday, February 10, 2012, as part of the free Noches Tropicales concert series presented by the Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department and sponsored by Target.  Admission and parking are free for this event.  Showtime is 8:00 p.m.

Recognized among the top percussionists, songwriters and producers in the world, the Puerto-Rican born Bonilla has achieved multiple solo albums and concert tours, collaborating with such music industry giants as Gloria Estefan, Lenny Kravitz, Madonna, Marc Anthony, Arturo Sandoval, Celia Cruz, Stevie Wonder, Ricky Martin and more. His music is a mix of Afro-percussion and pure salsa dance tracks, defined by powerful horns, strong percussion riffs, crisp wide vocal arrangements and deep live "descargas."

"I like to get people going from the beginning," said Bonilla of his music. "When you hear it, it'll catch your ear and make you want to get up and dance!"

Over the past 17 years Bonilla made more than 1,000 recordings and has received critical acclaim for such recordings as Edwin y Su Son, Soy La Candela and Pa' La Calle. His latest album Homenaje a Los Romberos, nominated for two Latin Grammys (Best Salsa Album/Best Recording) and a Grammy (Best Traditional Tropical Latin Album), pays tribute to the New York salsa explosion of the '70s with his vibrant version of such dance hall scorchers as Canto Abacua and Ella Esta En Otra Rumba. The multi-talented Bonilla also has recordings in a number of movie soundtracks, including Walt Disney's Anastasia, Mark of Zorro, The Specialist, Evita, The Perez Family, Make Me Dance, and Something about Mary, and also appeared in the movie.

Thousands of concert goers of all ages have attended this season's concert series which began October 21, 2011 and has showcased such talent as Orquesta La Tradicion with Salsa music legend Andy Harlow and Tiempo Libre.  Upcoming free concerts in this series include the eclectic Afro-Cuban rumba ensemble Los Herederos on March 23.

Over the past six years, Noches Tropicales has showcased 21 concerts that have included traditional Cuban contemporary music and zarzuelas, Argentinean tango, Brazilian jazz, and a Spanish version of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.

Tropical Park is located at 7900 SW 40 St., Miami. Noches Tropicales concert goers are encouraged to bring along a blanket, chairs and snacks to better enjoy the festivities.
