Tropical Park, developed on the site of a former horse track in 1979, attracts approximately 1,000,000 visitors annually. Visitors can enjoy bicycling, walking or running on the miles of paved pathways. Visitors can shape up on our fitness court or at our boxing center.

Tropical Stadium is home to our nationally recognized Miami-Dade Track and Field Team. The stadium has hosted prestigious national track and field meets such as the Junior Olympics and USA National Track and Field Championships. A walking club has also been created for visitors of all ages. Tropical's Equestrian Center hosts over thirty horse shows annually, including international shows, as well as the renowned Miami International Agriculture, Horse & Cattle Show.

Athletes can play tennis, racquetball, basketball, soccer or join one of our popular softball leagues. From football games in the stadium to special events, to boating on one of our four lakes, Tropical Park has something for everyone.

The new two-acre dog park is divided into two areas, one for larger dogs weighing over 35 pounds and one for smaller dogs weighing less than 35 pounds. Both areas feature play equipment, such as a tire jump, window jump, king-of-the-hill ramp, dog walk and others. The dog park also features dog comfort stations with doggy drinking fountains and water sprays, pooper scoopers to keep the areas clean, and a shade structure that overlaps both sides. The park includes a new promenade overlooking the lake, park benches along the promenade, new shade and flowering trees throughout, and a common area for dog owners with water fountains and an informational kiosk. A walkway connects all areas of the dog park and makes it ADA accessible.

Tropical also has four separate lakes. The freshwater fishing lake is stocked with large-mouthed bass, bluegill, catfish and more, and hosts frequent fishing contests. Paddle boating on the boating lake, is also available. A nice surprise for visitors is the hidden lake, tucked away in a quiet corner of the park. Unfortunately, swimming is not permitted in these lakes.

The Miami International Agriculture, Horse & Cattle Show 2013

Friday, April 12 through Sunday, April 14, Miami will host the sixth annual ''Miami International Agriculture, Horse & Cattle Show,'' as well as the ''Magic City Sale'' at the Ronald Reagan Equestrian Center at Tropical Park in Miami, Florida (7900 SW 40 Street). Great fun for the whole family, all weekend long!

The Mary Abreu Community Center is a facility uniquely located to serve the cattle and equestrian industry. The Abreu Center is centrally located and easy and convenient to get to, just 20 minutes from Miami International Airport. The Abreu Center was completely renovated in June 2012 and is the perfect location for conventions, seminars, workshops and meetings for members of beef and dairy cattle associations as well as equestrian associations. The Abreu Center has 4,320 square-feet of meeting space, seats up to 250 people and has a small kitchen, an outdoor grilling area, restrooms, and parking. Podiums, stages, sound systems and assorted meeting equipment are available for rental. The Abreu Center is Wi-Fi equipped and can be used for internet sales of cattle and horse stock and genetic material.

Complementing the Abreu Center is the Ronald Reagan Equestrian Center. Two new covered show rings are currently under construction (a warm-up ring and a practice ring) in addition to the existing covered show ring (50,000 sq. ft.) As a trio, the rings will create 150,000-square-feet of exhibit, competition and performance-ready arenas under 3.6 acres of covered roof. The improvements will complement the site's existing amenities, including its grand promenade, spectator seating, 267 stalls, vehicle hookups, restrooms, and concession area. Once construction is complete, larger events can be accommodated; this will increase the attractiveness of the Abreu Center for use by cattle and equestrian organizations.

Farmers Market Weekends

The previously announced “Farmers Market Weekends at Tropical Park,” scheduled for 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., every Saturday and Sunday, March 10-May 31, 2012, have been postponed, due to the unavailability of popular fruits being requested by patrons, which are currently out of season. To meet this demand, the Farmers Market Weekends will return at a later season during the year, which has yet to be determined.
