REPORT:
Chairman Rodriguez called the Joint Meeting of the Board of County Commissioners (Board) and Miami-Dade County Youth Commission (MDCYC) to order at 10:15 a.m.
In addition to Board members, and Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, the following staff members were present:
~ Mr. Jimmy Morales, Chief of Operations, Office of the Mayor;
~ County Attorney (CA) Geri Bonzon-Keenan;
~ Honorable Juan Fernandez-Barquin, Clerk of the Court and Comptroller;
~ Deputy Clerks Basia Pruna, and Deputy Clerks Kerry Khunjar Breakenridge and Bryce Stephenson-Pickett.
Miami-Dade County Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez and former Florida State Senator Anitere Flores were also in attendance.
Clerk Fernandez-Barquin administered the oath of office to the attending members of the Youth Commission.

CA Bonzon-Keenan read the title of the foregoing item into the record.
Ms. Martina Jaramillo, Youth Commission Chairwoman (District 8), summarized the
Commission�s work over the past year, including four urging resolutions on fentanyl awareness, arts educators, safe volunteerism, and mobile home displacement, and announced the Commission�s June 2025 legislative trip to Washington, D.C.
Ms. Sylvana Londono, Youth Commission Secretary (District 6), presented a proposal to require background checks for adult volunteers working with youth, and asked for the Board�s support.

REPORT:
Ms. Any Valido, Advocacy and Legislation Subcommittee Chairwoman (District 13), presented two proposals for the Board�s support: one to extend the eviction-notice period for mobile home residents facing redevelopment, and Secretary Londono�s volunteer background-check proposal.
Ms. Eva Egozi, Education and Services Committee Chairwoman (District 4), reported on the Committee�s toy drive and career immersion program and presented a proposal to designate a day of mandatory fentanyl education and overdose-response training in schools.
Ms. Jasmin Rossi, Cultural Arts and Community Engagement Committee Chairwoman (District 5), reported on the Committee�s youth arts magazine and workshops and presented a proposal to establish a Teach the Arts Day recognizing local arts educators.
Ms. Madison Moreno (District 11) and Suri Chavez (District 9), Co-Chairwomen of the Changemaker Award Committee, reported that the Award was now a permanent committee and proposed designating April 30, 2025 as Young Changemaker Day.
Mr. Maurits Acosta (District 13) reflected on his service and urged that the Commission serve as a national model for youth representation in government.
Ms. Kaliyah Mobley (District 2) described the Commission�s team-building day at the FIU ropes course.

REPORT:
Ms. Alyssa Leon, Office of the Mayor Representative, recognized the Commission�s graduating seniors and their college decisions, including its Miami Herald Silver Knight nominees, and thanked the Board for their ongoing support.
Various Board members commended the Youth Commissioners for their dedication to community and education.
Commissioner Higgins offered to coordinate on the Teach the Arts Day initiative.
