TITLE RESOLUTION DIRECTING THE COUNTY MAYOR OR COUNTY MAYOR�S DESIGNEE TO PREPARE A REPORT REGARDING THE STATUS OF INDUCTIVE-LOOP TRAFFIC DETECTORS IN COMMISSION DISTRICT 4 BODY WHEREAS, inductive-loop traffic detectors or �traffic loops� are critical components of the County�s traffic management system, enabling efficient signal timing and congestion mitigation; and WHEREAS, inoperative traffic loops can negatively impact traffic flow, resulting in increased congestion and delays for motorists and pedestrians; and WHEREAS, the Miami-Dade County Department of Transportation and Public Works is responsible for the maintenance and repair of such traffic control infrastructure; and WHEREAS, on March 7, 2023, this Board adopted Resolution No. R-221-23, which directed the County Mayor or County Mayor�s designee to prepare a report on damaged, broken, or otherwise inoperative traffic loops countywide; and WHEREAS, on June 21, 2023, this Board received the report prepared by the administration (Legistar No. 231152) pursuant to Resolution No. R-221-23; and WHEREAS, the Board wishes to direct the County Mayor or County Mayor�s designee to provide an update regarding the status and repair of such traffic loops in Commission District 4, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that this Board: Section 1. Directs the County Mayor or County Mayor�s designee to prepare a written report regarding the status of inductive-loop traffic detectors (�traffic loops�) located in Commission District 4. Such report shall, at a minimum, include: (a) the current number of broken, damaged or otherwise inoperative traffic loops in Commission District 4; (b) the number of traffic loops that have been repaired and restored to operation in Commission District 4 since the date of administration�s previous report (Legistar No. 231152) (the �previous report�); and (c) the number of traffic loops in Commission District 4 that have been broken, damaged, or rendered inoperative since the date of the previous report that have not been repaired to date. Section 2. Directs the County Mayor or the County Mayor�s designee to provide the completed, written report required by section 1, above, to the Board within 30 days of the effective date of this resolution and place the completed report on an agenda of the full Board without committee review pursuant to rule 5.06(j) of the Board's Rules of Procedure. |
