TITLE
RESOLUTION URGING ALL MUNICIPALITIES WITHIN MIAMI-DADE COUNTY TO ILLUMINATE THEIR CITY HALLS AND/OR MUNICIPAL BUILDINGS WITH VISIBLE RED, WHITE, AND BLUE LIGHTING ON JULY 4, 2026, IN RECOGNITION OF THE 250TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE UNITED STATES� FOUNDING

BODY
WHEREAS, every July 4th we celebrate Independence Day, honoring the birth and founding of the United States of America through the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776; and
WHEREAS, this year marks the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States of America, a hallmark of enduring liberty and democracy for the nation and its people; and
WHEREAS, in anticipation of this historic milestone, the federal government, the State of Florida, and the County have launched a series of programs aimed to engage, inspire, and unite all Americans in reflecting on our country�s heritage and traditions to shape our shared future; and
WHEREAS, the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the United States of America should not be limited to a stage or a speech, but should live throughout the County�s homes, streets, and neighborhoods, uniting cities, schools, veterans, educators, faith leaders, and community organizations in a countywide tribute to the founding ideals that define our nation; and
WHEREAS, this American holiday is traditionally celebrated each year through patriotic displays of red, white, and blue symbolizing our nation and its flag, along with parades, fireworks, and backyard barbecues; and
WHEREAS, the County is home to 34 incorporated municipalities, cities, towns, and villages whose communities together reflect the diversity and character of the County; and
WHEREAS, in furtherance of the County�s efforts to encourage countywide participation in this celebration, this Board believes that such goals will be advanced through coordinated displays of red, white, and blue in each municipality�s city halls and/or municipal buildings on July 4, 2026,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that this Board:
Section 1. Urges all municipalities within Miami-Dade County to illuminate their city halls and/or municipal buildings with visible red, white, and blue lighting on July 4, 2026, in recognition of the 250th anniversary of the United States� founding.
Section 2. Directs the Clerk of the Board to transmit certified copies of this resolution to the Mayors and City Councils or City Commissions of all the municipalities within Miami-Dade County.
