Applications are being accepted for the Weatherization Assistance Program to help low-income homeowners with home energy upgrades

MIAMI ( May 18, 2021 ) —

The Miami-Dade County Community Action and Human Services Department invites County residents to safeguard their homes by applying to the Weatherization Assistance Program. WAP is a federally funded program that helps low-income homeowners make their homes energy efficient through the installation of cost-saving measures. The program provides homeowners with:

Attic insulation
Window solar films
Weather-stripping
Energy Recovery Ventilation (ERV), including bathroom and kitchen exhaust fans
Repair or replacement of exterior doors and windows
Repair or replacement of refrigerators, water heaters, cooling and heating systems

“The Weatherization Assistance Program helps low-income homeowners make their homes more energy efficient through the installation of cost-saving measures – saving energy and money,” said Mayor Daniella Levine Cava.

CAHSD has been serving the community via WAP for more than 30 years. “Improvements help create a healthier home environment, while reducing home energy costs,” said CAHSD Interim Director Annika Holder. To qualify for WAP, the applicant’s total household income must not exceed 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines: Federal Poverty Guidelines. Assistance is based on available funds and reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis.
