REPORT:	Assistant County Attorney Gerald Sanchez read the foregoing proposed resolution into the record. Commissioner Moss commended the Sports Commission on a successful high school championship series for 2006. Chairman Barreiro asked the County Attorney to prepare the appropriate memorandum requesting that the foregoing proposed resolution be waived to the full BCC meeting on December 19, 2006 as requested by the Director of the Department of Procurement Management.

TITLE
RESOLUTION RETROACTIVELY AUTHORIZING IN-KIND SERVICES FROM THE MIAMI-DADE PARK AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT AND THE MIAMI-DADE FIRE RESCUE DEPARTMENT FOR THE NOVEMBER 10-12, 2006 MIAMI-DADE SENIOR GAMES SPONSORED BY THE MIAMI-DADE SPORTS COMMISSION, INC., A NOT-FOR-PROFIT ORGANIZATION, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $9,613.26 TO BE FUNDED IN PART FROM THE COUNTYWIDE IN-KIND RESERVE FUND AND IN PART FROM THE FIRE RESCUE DISTRICT BUDGET

BODY
WHEREAS, the Miami-Dade Sports Commission, Inc., has requested in-kind services from the Miami-Dade Park and Recreation Department and the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Department for the November 10-12, 2006 Miami-Dade Senior Games in an amount not to exceed $9,613.26 (see attached Fee Waiver/In-kind Service Application); and
WHEREAS, the Miami-Dade Sports Commission, Inc., is a non-for-profit organization; and
WHEREAS, the Miami-Dade Senior Games was created to promote healthy and active lifestyles for Miami-Dade County residents over the age of 50; and
WHEREAS, the Miami-Dade Senior Games will provide the senior community the incentive to train and an opportunity to compete in an Olympic-style sports competition; and
WHEREAS, the Miami-Dade Senior Games is a special event, as that term is defined on the attached Fee Waiver/In-kind Service Application, that will be held at various locations throughout Miami-Dade County; and
WHEREAS, $5,750.00 of in-kind services shall be funded in part from the Countywide In-Kind Reserve Fund and $3,863.26 of in-kind services shall be funded from the non-ad valorem portion of the Fire Rescue District Budget,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that this Board retroactively authorizes in-kind services from the Miami-Dade Park and Recreation Department and the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Department for the November 10-12, 2006 Miami-Dade Senior Games in an amount not to exceed $9,613.26 to be funded in part from the Countywide In-kind Reserve Fund and in part from the non-ad valorem portion of the Fire Rescue District Budget.
