TITLE
RESOLUTION JOINING THE CITY OF DORAL IN CODESIGNATING NW 107TH AVENUE FROM NW 25TH STREET TO NW 41ST STREET AS PERRY ELLIS WAY

BODY
WHEREAS, this Board has conducted a public hearing to consider codesignating NW 107th Avenue from NW 25th Street to NW 41st Street as Perry Ellis Way; and
WHEREAS, George Feldenkreis, a Cuban lawyer of Ukrainian descent, came to the United States in 1961, and started a small apparel wholesale company called Supreme International in 1967 as an importer of guayabera shirts; and
WHEREAS, Supreme�s rapid expansion led to the acquisition of Perry Ellis International in April 1999; and
WHEREAS, Perry Ellis International, one of the City of Doral�s largest employers, has been operating its facility located on NW 107th Avenue in the City of Doral since 1997; and
WHEREAS, Perry Ellis International is one of the most highly regarded and honored companies in the Miami-Dade County area and has been ranked as one of the top 100 largest public companies in Florida by the Miami Herald; and
WHEREAS, on November 8, 2006 the City of Doral passed Resolution No. 06-75 urging the Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners to authorize the renaming of NW 107th Avenue from NW 25th Street to NW 41 Street as Perry Ellis Way; and
WHEREAS, this proposed codesignation is located in County Commission District 12,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that:
Section 1. This Board joins the City of Doral with this codesignation and approves the codesignation of NW 107th Avenue from NW 25th Street to NW 41st Street as Perry Ellis Way.
Section 2. The Clerk of the Board is directed to send certified copies of this Resolution to the City of Doral Mayor, the United States Postal Service, the Traffic Signals and Signs Division of the Public Works Department and Land Development Division of the Public Works Department, the Miami-Dade Police Department, and the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Department.
