TITLE RESOLUTION DIRECTING COUNTY MAYOR TO IMPLEMENT EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS CONCERNING RESPONSIBLE ANIMAL CARE AT PET-FRIENDLY PARKS AND TO REPORT ON RECOMMENDATIONS FOR FURTHER REGULATIONS BODY WHEREAS, Miami-Dade County contains a number of pet-friendly parks; and WHEREAS, patrons of pet-friendly parks would benefit from a joint effort between the Miami-Dade County Park and Recreation Department and the Miami-Dade County Animal Services Department to educate pet owners about the proper care of their animals and to review and update County regulations concerning animals in parks, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA that this Board directs the County Mayor to implement educational programs directed at patrons of pet-friendly parks concerning pet owners' responsibility for the care of their animals while patronizing the parks, such as cleaning up after their pets. In addition, this Board directs the County Mayor to review existing County regulations concerning pets in parks and to report to this Board as to such revisions or additional regulations as may be appropriate to ensure that park patrons treat their animals responsibly, including appropriate code enforcement penalties. |
