TITLE
RESOLUTION APPROVING THE CITY OF MIAMI CODESIGNATION OF SW 25TH AVENUE FROM CORAL WAY/SW 22ND STREET TO SW 27TH STREET AS �'PFC MARIUS L. FERRERO AVENUE�

BODY
WHEREAS, on April 12, 2012 the Miami City Commission adopted Resolution No. R-12-0133 which designated SW 25th Avenue from Coral Way/SW 22nd Street to SW 27th Street as �PFC Marius L. Ferrero Avenue,� in recognition of his contributions to the City of Miami, a copy of which is attached and incorporated by reference; and
WHEREAS, Marius L. Ferrero was born in Miami on February 9, 1984 and as a youth was involved in baseball, Cub Scouts and later Boy Scouts; and
WHEREAS, while attending Coral Park Senior High School, Marius joined the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) and in 2007, Marius joined the U.S. Army; and
WHEREAS, Marius was deployed to Iraq and killed in an improvised explosive device (IED) attack on November 18, 2007; and
WHEREAS, in memory of Marius, his family and friends have created Mario�s Soldiers, a non-profit organization to help underprivileged children and veterans; and
WHEREAS, SW 25th Avenue from Coral Way/SW 22nd Street to SW 27th Street is a city street located in the City of Miami; and

WHEREAS, the City of Miami wants the County to install signage indicating this codesignation on County street signs and traffic signal masts arms; and
WHEREAS, this codesignation is located in County Commission District 5,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that this Board:
Section 1. Approves the City of Miami codesignation of SW 25th Avenue from Coral Way/SW 22nd Street to SW 27th Street as �PFC Marius L. Ferrero Avenue.�
Section 2. Directs the Clerk of the Board to send certified copies of this Resolution to the City Manager of the City of Miami, the United States Postal Service, the Traffic Signals and Signs Division of the Public Works and Waste Management Department, the Land Development/Right-of-Way Division of the Public Works and Waste Management Department, the City of Miami Police Department, and the City of Miami Fire-Rescue Department.
