TITLE
RESOLUTION DIRECTING THE MAYOR OR MAYOR�S DESIGNEE TO ESTABLISH A REGISTRY OF COUNTY BASED MANUFACTURERS

BODY

WHEREAS, to foster employment opportunities and the general welfare of the community, Miami-Dade County wishes to promote the creation and retention of businesses that manufacture goods within the County; and
WHEREAS, to accomplish this objective, the County must identify the goods which are manufactured within the County and to correlate those goods with the needs of Miami-Dade County all with the intent of promoting the County�s purchase of those goods consistent with obtaining the best value for the County,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the County Mayor or the County Mayor�s designee is directed to establish a registry of Miami-Dade County based manufacturers (�Resident Manufacturer�). A Resident Manufacturer shall be a person who offers materials grown, produced, processed, or manufactured wholly within Miami Dade County. The registry shall identify the materials manufactured by the Resident Manufacturer and shall set forth the County�s projected utilization of those materials within the next five years based on historical data. The County Mayor or Mayor�s designee is urged to cooperate with municipalities, the School Board, industry groups and local Chambers of Commerce in developing due registry.
