TITLE

RESOLUTION DIRECTING THE MAYOR OR MAYOR�S DESIGNEE TO PREPARE A REPORT IDENTIFYING GUIDELINES AND CRITERIA FOR CONVERTING VACANT OR SURPLUS COUNTY LAND INTO COMMUNITY PARKS AND PROVIDE THE REPORT TO THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WITHIN NINETY DAYS

BODY
WHEREAS, improving the accessibility of residents and visitors to parks throughout Miami-Dade County promotes a healthy lifestyle and increases the quality of life; and
WHEREAS, creating more parks in various locations throughout the County improves residents� and visitors� accessibility to parks; and
WHEREAS, the County is in possession of vacant or surplus land, including land which is currently serving no purpose to the general public; and
WHEREAS, converting vacant or surplus County land into community parks would provide increased access to parks and take advantage of land already in the County�s possession; and
WHEREAS, increasing the number of community parks throughout the County improves the quality of life of residents and visitors within the various Commission Districts; and
WHEREAS, a report creating guidelines and procedures targeting vacant land for conversion into community parks is an important step for establishing such parks; and
WHEREAS, identifying revenue sources for the construction and maintenance of these community parks is an important part of any set of guidelines and criteria,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the Mayor or Mayor�s designee is directed to prepare a report identifying guidelines and criteria for converting vacant or surplus County land into community parks and provide the report to the Board of County Commissioners within ninety days of the effective date of this Resolution.
