TITLE RESOLUTION DIRECTING THE COUNTY MAYOR OR COUNTY MAYOR�S DESIGNEE TO ESTABLISH A RECYCLING PROGRAM FOR TRAVELERS MAKING USE OF THE DANTE B. FASCELL PORT OF MIAMI AND PROVIDE A WRITTEN REPORT TO THE BOARD REGARDING SAME WITHIN 90 DAYS BODY WHEREAS, Miami-Dade County has been and remains committed to recycling waste materials; and WHEREAS, the Federal Environmental Protection Administration (�EPA�) through the �Recycle on the Go� program provides useful resources and information to local governments to better implement recycling programs in high traffic areas such as seaports; and WHEREAS, this Board desires to improve the recycling programs at the Dante B. Fascell Port of Miami-Dade (�PortMiami�); and WHEREAS, many other airports and seaports utilize the resources of the EPA to provide robust effective recycling programs in their terminal areas; and WHEREAS, PortMiami is the primary exposure many travelers have to Miami-Dade County, and the lack of a robust recycling programs does not properly reflect to these travelers the County�s commitment to recycling, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that: Section 1. The County Mayor or County Mayor�s designee is directed to implement a recycling program for travelers at PortMiami, based on the recommendations of the EPA�s Recycle on the Go program. Section 2. The County Mayor or County Mayor�s designee shall provide a report to this Board setting forth the steps taken to implement this directive not later than 90 days following the effective date of this resolution and shall place the completed report on an agenda of the Board pursuant to Ordinance No. 14-65. |
