TITLE
RESOLUTION NAMING THE NEWLY CONSTRUCTED FACILITY FOR THE MIAMI-DADE COUNTY ANIMAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT, LOCATED AT 3599 NW 79 AVENUE IN DORAL, THE �PET ADOPTION AND PROTECTION CENTER� AFTER A PUBLIC HEARING

BODY
WHEREAS, the newly constructed facility (�the new shelter�) for the Miami-Dade County Animal Services Department (�ASD�), located at 3599 NW 79th Avenue in Doral, Florida, was designed and built to improve animal care and increase the amount of lives saved of the thousands of pets abandoned annually by their owners; and
WHEREAS, the new shelter was built with best practices in animal care, in an effort to help increase pet care; and
WHEREAS, the new shelter provides for the capacity to increase spay and neuter services to the public; and
WHEREAS, the new shelter includes two clinics to better provide veterinary care; and
WHEREAS, the new shelter was designed to improve the customer experience and maximize the ability to help find homes for the thousands of pets abandoned by their owners every year; and
WHEREAS, these improvements increase ASD�s ability to protect the pets in its care; and
WHEREAS, this Board desires to name the new shelter the �Pet Adoption and Protection Center;� and

WHEREAS, naming the new shelter in this manner will help promote and identify this critical service to the public, increasing the exposure of pets needing homes; and
WHEREAS, Rule 9.02 of the Board�s Rules of Procedure provides that resolutions regarding proposed naming, renaming, or codesignation of Miami-Dade County roads, facilities, or property shall be sponsored by the district commissioner where the road, facility, or property is located; and
WHEREAS, this facility is located in County Commission District 12,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that:
Section 1. Having considered this matter at a public hearing, the Board names the newly constructed facility for the Miami-Dade County Animal Services Department, located at 3599 NW 79th Avenue in Doral, Florida, as the �Pet Adoption and Protection Center.�
Section 2. The Board directs the Clerk of the Board to send certified copies of this Resolution to the United States Postal Service, the Miami-Dade County Animal Services Department the Miami-Dade Police Department, the City of Doral Police Department, and the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Department.
