TITLE
RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A SISTER CITIES AFFILIATION BETWEEN DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA AND THE COMMONWEALTH OF THE BAHAMAS

BODY
WHEREAS, representatives of Metropolitan Dade County, Florida and The Commonwealth of the Bahamas have met and have expressed a desire to establish a Sister City affiliation between the two governments and their citizens; and
WHEREAS, both Dade County and The Bahamas are regional hubs for international trade and tourism and therefore meet the guidelines established in Resolution No. R-416-95 ; and
WHEREAS, the Office of the Foreign Ministry of The Bahamas, under it's signature and authority, has agreed to the establishment of an official Sister Cities affiliation with Metro-Dade County ; and
WHEREAS, both Dade County and The Bahamas shall agree to cooperate in order to expand trade, commerce, education opportunities and cultural ties with other cities within our two communities ,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that:
Section 1. Both governments have established an official Sister City affiliation between Dade County, Florida and The Commonwealth of the Bahamas.
Section 2. A committee of private citizens shall be appointed by each government to carry-out the objectives of fostering enhanced economic, cultural and social relations between the two governments and their people.
