Community Relations Board’s Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement Committee to discuss protests in the community and the Criminal Justice Reform in Miami-Dade County

 

MIAMI – The Miami-Dade County Community Relations Board (CRB)’s Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement Committee (CJLE), under the Office of Community Advocacy, monitors, addresses, and attempts to bridge police issues with the community in order to reach understanding and mutual respect. This month’s monthly meeting will discuss protests in the community and the Criminal Justice Reform in Miami-Dade County. The meeting will take place at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, June 24 via Zoom link http://miamidade.live/CJLE. Miami-Dade County Public Defender Carlos Martinez, Miami-Dade Police Department, and other government agencies will be addressing the board. All meetings of the Community Relations Board are open to the public, and residents are encouraged to attend and learn more about the work of the boards. There will be an opportunity for attendees to comment at the end of the meeting.

The Community Relations Board was founded in 1963 and its primary mission is to intervene and contain community tensions, as quickly as possible. The secondary mission of the Community Relations Board is to work proactively to identify and relieve intergroup conflicts before crises arise; to develop bridges of understanding and support programs in the community; to foster understanding, communication, and mutual respect; to develop and support local or city based Community Relations Boards throughout the county; and to assure that resources are in place to respond to community crisis.
