REHABILITATION OF 10 WATER SUPPLY WELLS

Scope of Work: (Contractor must obtain and submit all permits prior to performing any work). The scope of work of this project consists of the rehabilitation of TEN (10) Biscayne Aquifer wells, as required by the Miami Dade Water and Sewer Department (the DEPARTMENT). The CONTRACTOR shall perform this work at the Southwest wellfield (SWWF) and the Northwest Wellfield (NWWF). SWWF wells #19 and 20 are constructed with a 36-inch (in) diameter casing installed to 35 feet (ft) below land surface and are open holed to approximately 100 feet bls, and wells # 25, 26 and 27 are constructed with a 42-in diameter casing installed to 54 ft bls with an open hole to about 104 ft bls. All 5 wells at the NWWF are constructed with a 48-in diameter casing installed to 46 ft bls with an open hole to about 80 ft bls. The wells at both wellfields are contained in a concrete well house that if modified or damaged during the rehabilitation shall be restored to their normal condition prior to the rehabilitation. The well house dimensions are approximately 15-feet wide by 15-feet long by 12-feet high. All operations on the wells must be facilitated through a removable opening in the well house roof or through access doors on the well house wall. The work to be performed on each well consists of conducting a video survey of the well casing and open hole prior rehabilitation, brush cleaning the well casing, acidizing the well, neutralizing the acid and pumping it out, air developing, conducting a final video survey, removal of debris from the well and from the site. Well disinfection will be performed after all rehabilitation work has been completed and before the pump is placed back in the well. Cleanup, together with all other appurtenant and miscellaneous items of work will also be required. The CONTRACTOR shall provide a water management plan to discharge the well water and solids resulting from the airlifting, including the acid water resulting from the well acidification, and as accepted by the ENGINEER.
