REPORT: | Commissioner Regalado read into the record the following friendly amendment to the foregoing proposed resolution: - In Section 3 of Page 4 replace “urges the Office of the Property Appraiser” with “directs the Mayor or the Mayor’s Designee” and, - Add the phrase “and to provide a copy of such data to the Office of the Property Appraiser” at the end of that sentence.” It was moved by Commissioner Regalado to adopt the foregoiong proposed resolution as amended. This motion was seconded by Commissioner Martinez and upon being put to a vote, the motion passed 13-0. The amended version of this resolutoin would be assigned Resolution number R-953-21. | ||||||

TITLE RESOLUTION DIRECTING THE COUNTY MAYOR OR COUNTY MAYOR�S DESIGNEE TO COMPILE DATA REGARDING BUILDINGS THAT ARE REQUIRED TO BE RECERTIFIED PURSUANT TO SECTION 8-11(F) OF THE CODE OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA; DIRECTING THE COMMISSION AUDITOR TO REVIEW AND VERIFY SUCH DATA; URGING THE OFFICE OF THE PROPERTY APPRAISER TO ENTER INTO AGREEMENTS WITH MUNICIPALITIES TO OBTAIN SIMILAR MUNICIPAL DATA REGARDING RECERTIFICATION; AND URGING THE OFFICE OF THE PROPERTY APPRAISER TO INCLUDE A LINK TO SUCH RECERTIFICATION DATA ON THE PROPERTY APPRAISER�S WEBSITE BODY WHEREAS, in Miami-Dade County, pursuant to section 8-11(f) of the Code of Miami-Dade County, Florida (�Code�), property owners are currently required to recertify certain buildings in unincorporated Miami-Dade County once such buildings are forty years old and every ten years thereafter; and WHEREAS, County and municipal building officials will often use records of the Office of the Property Appraiser to augment their records regarding building information, including but not limited to the age of buildings; and WHEREAS, similarly, many residents of Miami-Dade County also rely on the Office of the Property Appraiser�s website to obtain information about their properties; and WHEREAS, as such, this Board wishes to request the assistance of the Office of the Property Appraiser in providing Miami-Dade County residents with information about the recertification status of buildings in Miami-Dade County that are subject to the recertification requirements of section 8-11(f) of the Code or similar municipal recertification requirements, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that this Board: Section 1. Directs the County Mayor or County Mayor�s designee to compile data of all properties in unincorporated Miami-Dade County that have been recertified pursuant to the provisions of section 8-11(f) of the Code. The County Mayor or County Mayor�s designee is further directed to maintain an updated database with such data in a format accessible to the Office of the Property Appraiser and the Commission Auditor. Section 2. Directs the Commission Auditor to review and verify the data compiled pursuant to section 1 above. Section 3. Urges the Office of the Property Appraiser to enter into agreements with municipalities to obtain data regarding properties within such municipalities that have been recertified in accordance with the provisions of section 8-11(f) of the Code. Section 4. Urges the Office of the Property Appraiser to provide a link to the information maintained pursuant to sections 1 and 3 above on its website profile for each qualifying property. |
