REPORT:	Assistant County Attorney Jess McCarty read the foregoing proposed resolution into the record. It was moved by Commissioner Sorenson that this proposed resolution be forwarded with a favorable recommendation. This motion was seconded by Commissioner Sosa. Commissioner Sosa questioned whether the Miami-Dade Senior Games included all Senior Citizens in the County. Upon being apprised by Chairman Martinez that the sponsor of this proposed resolution was not present, she noted she would ask her questions when this item was considered by the County Commission. Hearing no other questions or comments, the Committee proceeded to vote.

TITLE
RESOLUTION RETROACTIVELY AUTHORIZING IN-KIND SERVICES FROM THE MIAMI-DADE PARK AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT AND THE MIAMI-DADE FIRE RESCUE DEPARTMENT FOR THE NOVEMBER 4-11, 2007 MIAMI-DADE SENIOR GAMES SPONSORED BY THE MIAMI-DADE SPORTS COMMISSION, INC, A NOT-FOR-PROFIT ORGANIZATION, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $8,396.00 TO BE FUNDED IN PART FROM THE COUNTYWIDE IN-KIND RESERVE FUND, AND IN PART FROM THE NON-AD VALOREM PORTION OF THE FIRE RESCUE IN-KIND RESERVE FUND

BODY
WHEREAS, the Miami-Dade Sports Commission, Inc. has requested in-kind services from the Miami-Dade Park and Recreation Department and the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Department for the November 4-11, 2007 Miami-Dade Senior Games in an amount not to exceed $8,396.00 (see attached Fee Waiver/In-kind Service Application); and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the Miami-Dade Senior Games is to promote healthy and active lifestyles for Miami-Dade County residents over the age of 50 by offering each senior an opportunity to train and compete in an Olympic-style competition; and
WHEREAS, the Miami-Dade Sports Commission, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization; and
WHEREAS, the Miami-Dade Senior Games is a special event, as that term is defined on the attached Fee Waiver/In-kind Service Application, and $6,901.00 of the in-kind services shall be funded from the Countywide In-kind Reserve Fund and $1,495.00 of the in-kind services shall be funded from the non-ad valorem portion of the Fire Rescue In-kind Reserve Fund,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that this Board retroactively authorizes in-kind services from the Miami-Dade Park and Recreation Department and the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Department for the November 4-11, 2007 Miami-Dade Senior Games in an amount not to exceed $8,396.00 to be funded in part from the Countywide In-kind Reserve Fund and in part from the non-ad valorem portion of the Fire Rescue In-kind Reserve Fund.
