TITLE
RESOLUTION RETROACTIVELY AUTHORIZING IN-KIND SERVICES FROM THE MIAMI-DADE POLICE DEPARTMENT FOR THE MARCH 20-22, 2009 ''2009 NCAA DIVISION 1 MEN�S BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT'' SPONSORED BY THE MIAMI-DADE SPORTS COMMISSION INC., A NOT-FOR-PROFIT ORGANIZATION, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $11,750.00 TO BE FUNDED FROM THE COUNTYWIDE IN-KIND RESERVE FUND

BODY
WHEREAS, the Miami-Dade Sports Commission, Inc. has requested in-kind services from the Miami-Dade Police Department for the March 20-22, 2009 �2009 NCAA Division 1 Men�s Basketball Tournament� in an amount not to exceed $11,750.00 (see attached Fee Waiver/In-kind Service Application); and
WHEREAS, the First and Second round games of the �2009 NCAA Division 1 Men�s Basketball Tournament� will be played in Miami at the American Airlines Arena; and
WHEREAS, it is anticipated that over 19,000 spectators will attend each game; and
WHEREAS, the �2009 NCAA Division 1 Men�s Basketball Tournament� will contribute to the economic wellbeing of our local economy and give Miami-Dade County national attention; and
WHEREAS, the Miami-Dade Sports Commission has requested police escorts for the teams on game days and practice days; and
WHEREAS, the Miami-Dade Sports Commission, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization; and
WHEREAS, the �2009 NCAA Division 1 Men�s Basketball Tournament� is a major event, as that term is defined on the attached Fee Waiver/In-kind Service Application, and $11,750.00 of the in-kind services shall be funded from the Countywide In-kind Reserve Fund,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that this Board retroactively authorizes in-kind services from the Miami-Dade Police Department for the March 20-22, 2009 �2009 NCAA Division 1 Men�s Basketball Tournament� in an amount not to exceed $11,750.00 to be funded from the Countywide In-kind Reserve Fund.
