Dear Friends of District 8,

Daniella

Commissioner Daniella Levine Cava
June 2015
What's Coming Up?

Board of County Commissioners Meetings
The Commission will meet the 14th and 28th of July. Here is what to watch out for:

  • The Commission will begin discussing the budget and the millage rate on July 14th. Watch out for links to the Commission meetings on Twitter and Facebook.
  • The local implementation of the Convention to End Discrimination Against Women will go to the Economic Prosperity Committee on July 9th.

Flex your civics muscle and make sure to contact your Commissioners and tell them what you think about these and other proposed items.

I would love to hear any suggestions you may have. Give me a call, send an e-mail or connect on Facebook and Twitter.

To keep track of what's coming up at the County, check out the legislation portion of the County website.

Remember to watch the BCC meetings live on Miami-Dade TV and watch out for Periscope (links) broadcasts of the meetings.

A South Dade Summit Recap

We are happy to report that the South Dade Summit was a great success! Two hundred community leaders joined the discussions on the economy, transit and the enviornment. U.S. Department of Transportation Assistant Secretary Carlos Monje spoke about federal resources and answered several questions regarding transit connectivity in the South. Many interesting ideas were debated and we are ready to move forward. A leadership group made up of South Dade mayors, Commissioner Dennis Moss and Team 8 will create an action plan with goals and benchmarks. Stay tuned for more details.

Our next workshop is on July 22nd at the South Dade Government Center from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Budget Director Jennifer Glazer Moon will explain how the county allocates funds and collects revenues.

Congratulations to our Mom and Pop Grant Awardees
