Stevedore Permits & Licenses

The Port Director determines the number of stevedoring permits/licenses issued each year based on a number of factors including port congestion, space limitations, throughput volumes, operational needs, industry trends and more. In general, permit applications are available November of each year with permits being issued in January of the following year.

 

Permits

Permits are issued to companies to perform stevedoring activities at PortMiami for the year beginning January 14th of the current year and expiring January 13th of the following year. All documentation must be completed and returned to the permit section.

Licenses

Licenses are issued to individuals to perform stevedoring activities within Miami-Dade County.

Please contact the permit section to obtain a stevedoring license application and personal character form.
