1. Scope of Work – Furnish all labor, equipment and materials required to repair the asphalt walkways and various concrete pads throughout International Gardens Park located at 1898 SW 123 Court, Miami, FL 33175. The work includes mill and resurface approximately 3,400 SF of asphalt walkway, demo and remove approximately 8,200 SF of asphalt walkway, install approximately 7,100 SF of lime rock base, install approximately 7,100 SF of asphalt overlay, seal coat approximately 5,900 SF of asphalt walkway, and demo & install approximately 80 SF of concrete walkway/pads. See below for more details:
a. Attachment 1 – Location shows the general location of International Gardens Park. Prior to submitting a bid, the contractor is to visit the work site and become familiar with the work. The site is in a county park and can be visited by the contractor at any time during open park hours.
b. Attachment 2 – Sketches Location divides the park into 3 sections and shows the locations of Sketch A (south side of the park), Sketch B (northwest side of the park), and Sketch C (northeast side of the park).
c. Attachment 3 – Sketch A, Attachment 4 – Sketch B, and Attachment 5 – Sketch C shows the scope of work for each of the three sections.
d. The contractor is required to perform their own site take-off (field measurement) to complete all work. Any dimensions or quantities depicted in this RPQ are approximate and are not to be used for bid purposes. The existing asphalt walkway has at least two asphalt overlays in the past, so the existing depth of the asphalt walkway is somewhere 2 – 4 inches thick.
e. The contractor shall abide by the PWD Manual 2 Specifications for asphaltic seal coat, asphalt cement concrete, and Portland cement concrete. Attached are the following:

f. Sketches A, B and C depict the locations of the following work descriptions:
i. M&R (Milling and Resurfacing) – The contractor shall mill 1 to 1 ½ inches of asphalt from the existing walkway for the approximate dimensions (length and width in feet) as depicted on the sketch. At a minimum, the contractor shall mill through the top existing asphalt layer down into the second asphalt layer. The contractor shall remove all spoils from the site and properly dispose of the material. The contractor shall power sweep all milled areas prior to tack coat. The tack coat shall be heated and applied in a thin uniform layer at a rate of 0.03 and 0.15 gallons per square yard. The asphalt resurfacing layer may vary in thickness between 1 to 1 ½ inches and shall be Type S-1. All intersecting walkways shall have radius transitions.
ii. Replace Asphalt Walkway (Demo Asphalt; Install Lime Rock Base; and Install Asphalt Overlay) – The Contractor shall saw cut the asphalt walkway full width at the beginning and end of the removal area. All of the asphalt spoils shall be removed from the site, the contractor shall also root prune and remove the roots and any other debris from the site. Contractor shall properly dispose of the material. The contractor shall compact the subgrade and install clean lime rock from a quarry (compacted well) to an elevation that allows for the finish asphalt surface to be flush with the adjacent existing asphalt surface. There are at least two asphaltic overlays making up the existing walkway surface in this park. Once the compacted lime rock base is at the proper elevation, the contractor shall apply the prime coat and install the asphaltic overlay. The prime coat shall be heated and applied in a thin uniform layer at a rate of no less than 0.10 gallons per square yard. The asphalt resurfacing layer may vary in thickness between 1 to 1 ½ inches and shall be Type S-1. All intersecting walkways shall have radius transitions.
iii. Replace Concrete Walkway/Pad (Demo Concrete; Compact Existing Base; and Install Concrete Walkway) – The Contractor shall saw cut the concrete walkway/pad full width at the beginning and end of the removal area. All of the concrete spoils shall be removed from the site and shall be properly disposed of the material. The contractor shall compact the subgrade. The concrete shall be a thickness of 6-inches and the finished surface shall have a slip resistant broom finish. Portland cement concrete shall be 3000 psi with polypropylene fiber mesh additive, 6 inches thick and have a slip resistant broom finish. All intersecting walkways shall have radius transitions.
iv. Seal (Seal Coat Asphalt Walkway) - The contractor shall power sweep the area to be seal coated prior to the application of the seal coat. The seal coat shall be heated and applied in a uniform layer at a rate of 0.20 and 0.35 gallons per square yard.
v. Repair Shoulder – Sketch A has a note to repair shoulder located near the drinking water fountain. The contractor shall saw cut straight approximately 40 feet of jagged edge, install 70/30 mix to eliminate drop off. See Item g below for details.
vi. Saw Cut – Throughout the park saw cutting the asphalt walkway, concrete walkway, and concrete pads for a park bench/drinking fountain/bike rack shows up in the work. The intent is to achieve a straight edge for cosmetic purposes prior to installing concrete or asphalt.
g. Upon completion of the asphalt walkways and concrete walkways/pads, the contractor shall install 70/30 (sand/soil) mix and sod on all areas disturbed by construction activities, using fine hand grading and supplying topsoil mixture to bring Soil/Sod to even elevation with edge of new asphalt/concrete placement. Sod will be placed in the areas where sod existed before prior to the contractor starting the work. If there were no sod in the disturbed area prior to work, then the contractor shall place the 70/30 mix at a 3:1 slope to the walkway ADA compliant.
