d. The contractor is required to perform their own site take-off (field measurements) to complete all work. Any dimensions or quantities depicted in this RPQ are approximate and are not to be used for bid purposes.
e. The contractor shall abide by the PWD Manual 2 Specifications for Portland cement concrete. Attached are the following specifications:
i. PWD Manual Part 1A
ii. PWD Manual Part 1B
iii. PWD Manual Part 2A
iv. PWD Manual Part 2B
f. Sketches A, B and C depict the locations of the following work descriptions:
i. Replace (Demo Concrete; Root Prune; Regrade/Compact Existing Base; and Install Concrete Walkway) – The Contractor shall saw cut straight the concrete walkway full width at the beginning and end of the removal area. The thickness of the existing concrete walkway is around 6-inches. All of the concrete spoils shall be removed from the site and be properly disposed. The contractor shall root prune, remove the debris, and properly dispose of the debris material. The Contractor shall regrade and compact the base, and install new concrete walkway. The Portland cement concrete shall be a minimum thickness of 6-inches, 3000 PSI with a polypropylene fiber mesh additive, and the finished surface shall have a slip resistant broom finish. The Contractor shall create controlled joints every 8’ along the 8’ wide walkway. The controlled joints shall be either saw cut within 24 hours of the concrete pour or trawled into the wet concrete prior to curing.
ii. Temporary Remove Pavers – In Sketch A, the intent of this work is to raise the existing brick pavers that encircle the fitness court to be level and flush to the two concrete ribbons located on both sides of the pavers. Work includes temporarily removing the brick pavers and storing them securely while not breaking them. Pressure wash the brick pavers to clean the surface. Root prune the base (if needed) and remove all organic debris. Add clean sand from a quarry and regrade the base to the proper elevation. Reinstall existing brick pavers. Add addition thin layer of clean sand on top of newly reinstalled existing brick pavers and compact surface with vibratory compactor to lock the pavers. Sweep clean the brick paver surface. The top of the newly installed/compacted pavers shall be flush to the surrounding concrete ribbons.
g. Upon completion of the concrete walkways and brick paver work, the contractor shall install 70/30 (sand/soil) mix and sod on all areas that the contractor disturbed due to their construction activities. Use fine hand grading to bring mixture/sod to an elevation approximately 1” to 2” below the top of surface of the broom finished concrete. If there was no grass in the disturbed area prior to work, then the contractor shall place the 70/30 mix at a 3:1 slope to help make the walkway ADA compliant. Sod will only be placed in the areas where grass existed prior to the contractor starting their work.
h. The contractor shall protect the park assets at all times, especially the concrete walkways. Any new damage caused by the contractor’s equipment shall be replaced at the contractor’s expense in a similar manner outlined in this RPQ’s scope of work.
