The project consists of, and is not limited to, furnishing all materials, labor, services, supervision, tools, equipment, including all associated permits, and all other items necessary for the successful completion of the project in accordance with the plans and specifications included with the bid documents, which shall include the electrical upgrades and replacement of two critical switchgears, stepdown transformers, and associated panels and electrical equipment.
The purpose of this project is to replace “critical switchboard 208V” located in UPS room 158, 500kVA Transformers, Panels “RPR1”, “RPR2” and “EMCC1” located in room 160 at the Data Processing and Communications Center. The project design sequence objective is to drastically reduce and/or eliminate electrical outages.
The abbreviated scope entails the following: Full scope is as per approved permit drawings.
- Disconnect Panel DMC and energize from fusible disconnect switch.
- Demolish EMCC1 and Panel DMC Main and replace with new switchboard MDP-ME and well pump starters.
- De-energize Panel DMC and disconnect from 400A fusible disconnect.
- Connect Panel DMC to new switchboard MDP-ME.
- Installation and preparation of new Critical SWBD-208V. Includes temporary feeds and coordinated installation.
- Demolish, replace and energize Panel RDP2. Removal of existing conductors from conduits. Conduits to be reused. Includes new feeder installation.
- Lower existing drop ceiling 12”.
- Demolish, replace and energize Panel RDP1 with new feeders from new Critical Switchboard-208V.
- Transfer loads from existing panels to new in a planned and controlled manner to avoid shutdowns.
- Reassign Panel RDP1 as new splice point.
- Install factory supplied pulling section for new Critical Switchboard-208V to cover all necessary underground conduits.
- Remove all temporary wiring.
The basis of design for electrical distribution equipment for this project is Eaton Corporation. If the contractor decides to deviate from the basis of design with an approved equal, he must inform ISD and the engineer of record to review the proposed equipment.
The basis of design for the three 500kVA transformers being replaced is Jefferson Transformer. The space available for the new transformer is limited to the same size of the existing transformer. If the contractor decides to deviate from the basis of design with an approved equal, he must inform ISD and the engineer of record to review the proposed equipment.
The project dry-run submittal has been approved by Miami-Dade County Building Department. The process number with MDC is C2024170780. The contractor shall be responsible for verifying and obtaining all required permits for the project. All electrical equipment to be ENERGY STAR certified.
Permit cost to be included in the Base Bid Contract Cost. Miami Dade County will not reimburse any permit cost to the awarded Contractor.
The existing operation of the Facility must be maintained during construction. Contractor is responsible for coordinating access, and construction activities to avoid any interruption to the operation of the Data Processing and Communications Center.
The project is located at 5680 SW 87th Avenue, Miami, FL 33173.
The estimated construction cost is $672,153.99. This estimate includes $19,389.06 estimated permit fees. The Bid shall consist of the Base Bid amount (Lump Sum) inclusive of all permit fees and excluding Contingency.
