The Federal Litigation Section handles the County's federal litigation, with the exception of employment discrimination cases, which are handled by the Employment Discrimination & Labor Section. The Federal Section's lawsuits involve a broad range of constitutional issues, including the reasonableness of searches, seizures, and arrests under the Fourth Amendment, the justifications and limitations relating to the use of force under the Eighth and Fourteenth Amendments, the law relating to expression and conduct under the First Amendment, and the validity of County ordinances and practices under the Equal Protection and Dormant Commerce Clauses.
