David Sherman practices in the Torts and Medical Malpractice section, as well as the Zoning, Land Use & Environmental Section and is an experienced litigator. David also defends the County in employee disciplinary actions in both arbitrations and administrative hearings.
Before joining the County Attorney's Office, David was an Assistant State Attorney at the Office of the State Attorney in Miami-Dade County for nearly fifteen years. He has served as lead counsel in numerous jury trials, handled appeals, and argued a wide range of constitutional motions. At the State Attorney's Office he created and supervised both the Cybercrimes Unit and the Mortgage Fraud Unit. During that time he also served as a Special Assistant United States Attorney at the United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Florida. Prior to his role as a Division Chief in the State Attorney's Office, David was a prosecutor in the Economic Crimes Division and the Sexual Battery Unit. In his time as a prosecutor, David prosecuted serious felonies including homicides, sexual batteries, aggravated child abuse cases involving shaken baby syndrome, transmission and possession of child pornography, child enticement cases, robberies, racketeering, fraud, identity theft, elderly exploitation, and drug trafficking cases.
