Suzanne L. Villano-Charif is a member of the Public Health Trust section. She advises the Public Health Trust on a wide range of legal issues related to health care operations including reimbursement, regulatory compliance, privacy and intellectual property, medical staff credentialing and governance, physician contracts, managed care agreements, corporate transactions, procurement and patient relations. Suzanne also provides counsel regarding issues related to HIPAA and HITECH, the False Claims Act, the Anti-kickback Statute and the Stark Law. Since joining the County Attorney's Office, Suzanne has represented Miami-Dade County and the Public Health Trust in bid protests, debarment proceedings, arbitrations and personnel appeals. She has successfully litigated disputes in a broad range of matters in state court related to construction, contracting and billing.

Prior to joining the office, Suzanne was a Clinical Instructor and Supervising Attorney with the Health Rights Clinic at the University of Miami School of Law and an Assistant Public Defender at the Miami Public Defender's Office. As a Clinical Instructor and Supervising Attorney, Suzanne lectured in the area of health rights, social security and trial advocacy. Additionally, she supervised law students representing clients in administrative legal proceedings. As an Assistant Public Defender, Suzanne represented clients in over 20 felony jury trials.
