Abbie Schwaderer Raurell is a litigator who has practiced in federal and state court, at both the trial and appellate levels. Abbie handles a broad variety of cases, including zoning appeals, environmental enforcement actions, and federal civil rights claims.  Abbie has successfully defended a variety of challenges to County land use decisions and has defended the County and its police and correctional officers against claims of federal civil rights violations.  Abbie has also initiated and successfully prosecuted numerous civil enviromental enforcement actions seeking compliance with the County's environmental regulations on such matters as contamination and wetlands.

Abbie advises the Board of County Commissioners, the Planning Advisory Board, and Community Zoning Appeals Boards on land use matters.  She also has experience in other areas, such as the incorporation of new municipalities, annexation unincorporated areas into existing municipalities, and intergovernmental agreements between municipalities and the County.  In addition, Abbie handles transactional work for the Department of Regulatory and Economic Resources, including the drafting and review of ordinances, resolutions, and contracts.

Abbie has been recognized by the Florida Bar as an expert in City, County and Local Government Law.

Prior to becoming a lawyer, Abbie served as a United States Peace Corps volunteer in Honduras, and she has served on the board of the Returned Peace Corps Volunteers of South Florida, Inc.
