Before a Hurricane
It's important to discuss your family emergency plan ahead of time. Your family may not be together when a disaster strikes, so it is important to know how you will contact one another, how you will get back together and what to do in case of an emergency.

Be Prepared

Preparation should be done before hurricane season, but there will need to be additional prep as the storm approaches.

When storing water, be sure to have at least one gallon per person per day for three to seven days.

Debris flies everywhere during a hurricane. County residents should dispose of all trash before a storm.

All marinas will close when sustained winds reach 39 mph. Before the storm approaches, secure your boat properly.

Windows and doors should be secured with County-approved storm shutters or by boarding up windows with 5/8-inch plywood.

Businesses need to be secured inside and out if a hurricane is threatening to make landfall.
