The Tropical Fruit & Vegetable Society of the Redland is a nonprofit group formed to promote exotic fruits and the Miami-Dade County Fruit & Spice Park.

The Society originated in 1981 when a small group of enthusiasts began meeting regularly at the Fruit & Spice Park. The membership includes commercial growers, backyard gardeners and rare plant collectors.

An invitation for membership is extended to all people interested in tropical fruit and vegetables that will help advance the goals of the Society. The objectives of the organization are:

  • Increase public interest in the cultivation and use of tropical fruit and vegetables in South Florida
  • Disseminate information on the cultivation, propagation, and uses of these plants
  • Support the Fruit & Spice Park through volunteer efforts, participation in the programs and donating plant materials and supplies needed by the garden

The Friends of the Park is a committee of the Society dedicated to fundraising activities.

The organization is a non-profit 501(c) 3. Your tax-deductible donations are used to provide support and enhancements at the Fruit & Spice Park.

Meetings are held on the last Wednesday of every month at 7:30 p.m. in the Fruit & Spice Park auditorium. Enjoy monthly guest lectures on tropical fruit, vegetables and related topics, a free tasting table, plant exchange and horticultural library.

Support the Park’s mission through volunteer efforts and participation in programs and activities at the park and in the community. We are always looking for new members. Email [email protected] or come to the next meeting.

Visit The Society's Facebook page to keep up to date with the programs and activities at the park.
