Black Affairs Advisory Board Committees
The Black Affairs Advisory Board has several committees which are reflective of the issues and concerns of its residents. These committees are:
- Black Heritage Planning
- Health Care
- Economic Development
- Crisis Intervention/Respect Life!
- Budget and Finance
Some of the activities of these Committees include: Black History Month events which features a month-long celebration and award-winning exhibit in the lobby of the Stephen P. Clark Government Center; Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. observance; the Annual "Pillars Awards and Young Pillars Scholarship" awards; the sponsorship of "Village Dialogues" which deal with education, health care, youth, elderly and domestic violence and preservation of health and financial assets.
The Board was also instrumental in creating a "Truancy Hotline" in conjunction with Miami-Dade Public Schools to combat truancy and has collaborated with an "Anti-Violence Ambassador" to illustrate the impact of violence.Back to Top Page Last Edited: Fri Jul 12, 2013 9:41:26 AM
